FARA Guide/HOW-TO

How to Search the
DOJ FARA Database

The Department of Justice maintains a free, publicly searchable electronic FARA filing system at efile.fara.gov. Every registered foreign agent's filings are accessible here — no login required.

Step-by-Step Search Guide

1

Go to efile.fara.gov

Navigate to https://efile.fara.gov in your browser. This is the official DOJ FARA electronic filing system. No account or login is required to search and download public filings.

2

Use Active Registrant Search

Click "Search" in the top navigation. You can search by: Registrant Name (e.g., "Clock Tower X"), Registration Number (e.g., "7649"), Country (e.g., "Israel"), or Date Range. For the Israel pipeline, search country "Israel" and sort by date descending to find all recent registrations.

3

Open a Registration Record

Click on a registrant name to open their full filing record. You will see tabs for: Registration Statement, Exhibit AB (the contract), Supplemental Statements (periodic updates), and Informational Materials (content distributed on behalf of the foreign principal).

4

Download the Exhibit AB (Contract)

The Exhibit AB is the most important document — it contains the actual contract between the registrant and their foreign principal, including compensation, duration, and scope of activities. Click the Exhibit AB tab and download the PDF.

5

Check Supplemental Statements

Registered foreign agents must file supplemental statements every six months (or within 30 days of any material change). Supplemental statements update compensation figures, activities, and informational materials distributed. Always check these for the most current data.

6

Download and Archive PDFs

All documents are available as PDFs. Download and save copies for your records. AFNPT maintains local copies of all primary source documents and links to the DOJ originals. DOJ sometimes reorganizes URLs — we recommend downloading original PDFs rather than linking to them externally.
