It Is Not Just Your Phone They Are Targeting. It Is What You Read, Watch, and Believe Online.

How Generative Engine Optimization shapes the information reaching you

“Have you ever noticed that when you search for information about Israel online, you tend to find the same kinds of answers? Have you ever wondered why?”

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. It is a newer technology that shapes how artificial intelligence search tools — like ChatGPT, Google's AI Overview, and Perplexity — answer questions. By flooding the internet with specific types of content, organizations can influence what AI tools “learn” and therefore what answers they give you when you ask questions about topics like Israel, Palestine, or the Bible's relationship to modern politics.

The FARA documents filed by these organizations describe plans to create large volumes of digital content — websites, social media posts, videos, educational materials — designed to ensure that when you search for information, what comes back reinforces the narrative they want you to believe.

Combined with geofencing (which targets you based on where you physically are), GEO targets the information environment around you. Your location data tells them where you worship. GEO shapes what you find when you go looking for answers.

“If the information reaching you has been deliberately shaped by a foreign government's paid agents — can you be sure you are forming your own opinion? Or someone else's?”

What the FARA Documents Say About GEO

From the FARA Documents — Their Own Words

The FARA filings describe plans to use “Generative Engine Optimization” to “counter new and evolving pro-Palestinian messaging as the global narrative shifts” and to “use biblical arguments to highlight the importance of Israel.” They describe creating websites, social media content, and “educational materials” specifically engineered to shape what people find when they search for information about Israel.

The question this raises: If the information being pushed to you is designed to “counter” other perspectives rather than simply present truth — is that education? Or is that manipulation?
